NEWS: The Status Of Neville And Nia Jax In WWE

How’s it going everybody? Thomas Robinson here with the Armbar Express. We’ve got a bit of news surrounding two top RAW superstars. It had been previously reported that Neville had actually asked for his release from WWE, following not appearing in last week’s Monday Night RAW event. It appears that Neville is not the only one linked with a move out of the door….

Nia Jax, who debuted on Monday Night RAW following the WWE Draft in July 2016, has been reported as having been upset backstage following not appearing on RAW herself in this week’s edition of the show. Nia had been part of an angle between Sasha Banks and Bayley, feuding with the two girls ever since No Mercy. This week, Sasha Banks fought Alicia Fox while Bayley was in a tag team match.

Nia not being there did raise a few questions, with Pro Wrestling Votes (the same guys who had initially spread word on Neville’s situation) tweeting about possibly hearing of Nia’s absence.

Pro Wrestling Sheet released an update to the initial rumours, stating that their sources suggest that Nia has been granted a “leave of absence” although nothing has been confirmed yet about whether Nia was upset backstage at RAW last night. The update is available at this link.

I do want to stress to everyone reading that we’re merely at the rumour stages of the story, and no statement has been released yet from WWE’s side of things or from Nia herself or any members of Nia’s family. If you recall, when the story broke about Neville asking for his release, WWE quickly denied any truth to it. Again, early doors on this story so WWE may not have had the time to respond just yet.

The internet wrestling community has become extremely quick at jumping to the conclusion that Nia had been frustrated with creative similar to Neville. I find it rather difficult to believe as Nia has been one of the more protected women across RAW, SmackDown! and NXT. Only girls like Alexa Bliss and Charlotte are booked better than her in my eyes and Nia Jax is the biggest female monster that’s been pushed since she was promoted last year.

Neville’s frustrations are understandable knowing how badly 205 Live has been going as well as his inability to advance further in his WWE career. Nia… she’s got plenty of time to get ready enough to become a strong women’s champion. I don’t see how she’s got a case in being frustrated there and it wouldn’t make a lot of sense to me.

Nia’s leave of absence could mean many things so it’s difficult for us to guess. I do wish Nia the best with whatever the situation is with her, if this turns out to be true. Again, a lot of potential in Nia as a top monster… given time to develop as a worker. I would not want to miss out on a Nia Jax monster title reign.

As for Neville, his story has been kind of kept under wraps at the moment. As it stands right now, he’s still employed at WWE. For those of you that are unaware, Neville was not on RAW last week for a show where he was supposedly set to challenge Enzo Amore for the Cruiserweight title in the main-event. The initial reports that he “walked out” was debunked as Neville wasn’t even there in the first place.

The rumours have been running rampant for him. There’s talk of frustrations with the royalties for being on the pre-show for WrestleMania 33, similar to the reasons why Austin Aries left WWE earlier this year as well. Not to add fuel to the fire in this sense but there were rumours that Enzo was supposed to beat Neville again in that main-event so he may have possibly not wanted to do the job. There’s a lot frustrations supposedly on Neville’s end.

The belief right now is that Neville is currently negotiating the terms of his release. When Ryback asked for his release last year, he was initially at home during the negotiations as well, if I remember correctly. I don’t see Neville on television any time soon although WWE is supposedly hopefully that they can convince him to stay on board. If you’re WWE, you can’t afford to lose Neville right now I’d imagine.

Their priority is getting that 205 Live show over and doing good numbers, which was the whole reason why Enzo Amore was brought in to bring in interest. Neville was an established WWE star before 205 Live and the longest reigning cruiserweight champion since the title came back in September.

They really don’t have many top cruiserweight babyfaces at the moment which was, again, the whole reason why Kalisto was brought in to feud with Enzo. They don’t have the confidence in those guys getting over enough. They have confidence in Neville so it’s in their best interests to try and keep him on.

We will see what happens in the development of both these stories. I personally hope both individuals make the right choices that benefits them. If Nia feels that a leave of absence is necessary, it’s understandable. If Neville feels that he needs to part ways with WWE, that’s his decision. I personally would love to see them both stay in WWE. Nia does have potential down the road and Neville should be going to SmackDown! Live as a top heel as they’re lacking in that department. Do I feel they’ll do that? No. I think if Neville’s coming back at all, he’ll be in 205 Live.

Analysing The Potential Wrestlemania 32 Opponents For Undertaker

NOTE: This article is kind of a sequel to my piece on Brock Lesnar. To see that article, click on the link below…

Analysing The Potential Wrestlemania 32 Opponent For Brock Lesnar

The announcement that the third installment of the Undertaker vs Brock Lesnar rivalry would take place at Hell in a Cell caught many of us off-guard. Many of us were expecting the third match to take place at Wrestlemania 32. No better way for this rivalry to come to an then at the PPV that is responsible for this feud in the first place. Many experts predicted that the third match would take place at Wrestlemania 32 in Texas. However, Night of Champions gave us quite a shock with the announcement. The question is now, what are the Wrestlemania 32 plans for Brock Lesnar and Undertaker if they’re not facing each other? Just WHO will they be facing?

I’ve already looked at the reports from Wrestling Observer about Brock Lesnar. Now I’m going to look at reports for Undertaker. Three names have come out in reports that are linked to a potential clash with Undertaker at Wrestlemania. With this article, I’m going to run down each candidate and see which of these match-ups I’d like to see for Wrestlemania.

The first name is a big one. This man has never really faced Undertaker before in a big match situation. He’s wrestled him a few times before but never in a big angle. It’s a man that’s actually got an incredible Wrestlemania record himself, being 10-3 at the PPV…

Sorry, I had to really get that joke in somehow. Yes, John Cena vs Undertaker is reportedly being discussed for Wrestlemania. I’ve actually talked about this match before during my How I Would Book… The End Of The Streak special (I talked about Cena vs Taker at this link).

It’s probably been discussed many times before. John Cena has been a top main event star for WWE since 2005, when he first won the WWE Championship. So the fact that Cena has never once feuded with the Undertaker in the last decade is quite astonishing.

Cena’s had matches with the Undertaker and has encountered him a number of times before. Cena feuded with Taker in 2003, when he was still a rookie. Cena even picked up a victory over Undertaker on SmackDown! during the angle. General Manager Kurt Angle also booked Undertaker (who was being controlled by Paul Heyman at the time) against Cena in 2004… once again on SmackDown! The two of them even had a few matches on RAW together in 2006 and would face each other in tag matches leading up to Wrestlemania 23. John Cena and Undertaker even teamed up together in Madison Square Garden in 2009.

However, there’s one little incident that actually does provide us with a bit of content for Undertaker and John Cena to work with. This actually took place on the night John Cena made his in-ring debut in WWE against Kurt Angle. Following the match, a number of wrestlers came up to congratulate John for taking Angle to the limit. The man that showed up next was the Undertaker, who asks for Cena’s name. He then shakes Cena’s hand and says: “Nice job”.

In hindsight, this moment kind of seems like the passing of the torch. Many have jokingly theorised that this is the reason for Cena’s invincibility! Joking aside, this can actually be used to help the story and John Cena’s character. Cena can talk about how Undertaker went up to him on his first night and shook his hand. On that night, he made a vow to always show the respect that the Undertaker had shown a rookie like him. All he wants to do now is respectively give Undertaker the very best competition before he retires. This sets up Cena vs Undertaker for Mania.

I’m all for this match one day happening. This match is one of the last true dream matches Undertaker could ever have. It’s not like this could be a dangerous match for the Undertaker to wrestle either. It’s an easy match for the Undertaker to do and there’s a lot of potential there.

Cena’s a strong contender but let’s look at candidate #2… Seth Rollins.

Seth Rollins was actually in the first list of wrestlers speculated to fight Brock Lesnar. However, now we’re talking about Seth fighting the Undertaker. Wrestling Observer never specified whether this would be for the WWE World title. However, I think Undertaker fighting for the title one last time would be a classic story that both Taker and Seth could benefit from.

Everyone likes a good old Rocky Balboa storyline in WWE. Sting vs Seth Rollins was a decent program, with a great match at Night of Champions (even with Sting’s injury). From a booking standpoint, Taker’s actually the perfect opponent for Seth to face at Wrestlemania.

Seth Rollins vs Brock Lesnar would make sense from a continuity standpoint. Seth and Brock have got a little bit of history that stems from last year’s Wrestlemania. Other than a small program with the Shield in 2013, Undertaker and Seth Rollins have never really crossed paths. However, that’s actually a great reason for why this match should happen. Think of everyone Seth Rollins has defended his title against since his title reign began. Randy Orton, Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, Brock Lesnar, Neville, John Cena, Sting, probably Kane at Hell in a Cell. Seth would need to beat Undertaker in order to cement his legacy as having one of the greatest title reigns of all time. Seth needs to win to cement his legacy. Undertaker needs to win to have one last reign as champion. From a booking standpoint, it makes all the sense in the world for this match to happen.

Before we finish however, let’s discuss the final candidate…

Braun Strowman was the third man on the list. This one recently shouldn’t have surprised but it did kind of throw me off a bit. This fella has only just arrived on the scene in August and WWE already have big plans for him. These are big plans as its not like he’s up against some main-eventer at Mania. He’s up against the Undertaker of all people. This would be the follow-up feud for Taker after he’s done with Lesnar. That’s a tall order.

First of all, this would mean WWE would have make Braun look SO STRONG going up against the Undertaker. Braun would have to destroy everyone. He’s beaten everyone he’s been up against so far but that’s only a month into his career. I think Braun would be a fairly easy opponent for Undertaker to work with. He’s very green in the ring but it’s not like he’s a very hard hitting wrestler. He’s more like a brawler that’ll just punch you more than anything. The only issue I’d have with this match is that it’s already been announced for Undertaker’s October appearance in Mexico teaming with Kane, that he’s going up against Luke Harper and yes… Braun Strowman. If they’re doing this for a house show, why would you do it for a Wrestlemania match?

It could be to see just how Undertaker would do against Braun, but the chances are that Braun would end up doing the job alongside Harper. I think it’d be silly to do this and then throw Braun and Taker together at Mania.

My personal pick would be Cena, but Seth is actually an interesting choice too. However, the pressure is on for WWE to pull out a big match for the Dead Man at Wrestlemania.

WWE Elimination Chamber News: Mick Foley’s Facebook Message, Christian Out Of The Chamber, Brock Lesnar?

WWE Fans. Tom Robinson here. Here it is. THE ELIMINATION CHAMBER!

Mick Foley’s Facebook Message To WWE

Now Mick Foley has been running a tear on Facebook as of late in regards to the WWE product. Most infamously, he berated the WWE about the Royal Rumble PPV after Daniel Bryan was not part of the Royal Rumble match. And just before WWE return to the PPV scene, Foley has released another statement on the social networking site about tonight’s event.

And the entire statement reads…

Please, please, please, please, have a great show tonight.

As a fan of pro-wrestling – have a great show.

As a father of four who has ordered every PPV for the past year – have a great show.

As the guy whose big Christmas present to his family was a family trip to New Orleans for Wrestlemania, even though he knew he wasn’t likely to appear on the event – have a great show.

On behalf of all those other dads or moms who have done the same thing; spent considerable money on an event that thus far is not capturing our imaginations – have a great show.

As a Disney fan who wouldn’t want to arrive at the Magic Kingdom just to find out all his favorite attractions were closed – have a great show.

As someone who still remembers how it felt to be 18 years old and see Jimmy Snuka dive off the top of the cage – to see the magic pro-wrestling was capable of creating – and knows you have the ability and personnel to make people feel that same magic – have a great show .

As the estranged son who still loves his WWE family, and, no matter what, in some strange way, always will – have a great show.

Mick Foley”

You know, I appreciate as much as anyone when someone tries to play to the fans as an attempt to get a point across. It’s a real great wild card to use, Mick. But the one thing I don’t appreciate is you asserting yourself in the public domain by burying the product just before it starts. I mean what Mick is doing is damaging to the product itself. If he is truly as big of a “fan” of WWE as he’s making himself out to be with this tear-jerking speech about doing “what’s right for the fans”, then why doesn’t he just shut his mouth and let the product show you what it can do.

The WWE has already “appeased” the fans wishes by putting Daniel Bryan in the Elimination Chamber (whether that was originally intended or not we’ll never know). Also, we have the Swiss Superman Antonio Cesaro in the chamber as well which I’m sure Foley and the WWE universe will be most please about. Surely that should be enough for Foley to lay off the Facebook and watch these fine wrestlers put on a hell of a show for the fans. But no. Foley just had to interject himself some more. And why? I respect the hell out of Foley, but he needs to have a bit more faith in the product that he wants to make better. Bashing the product does it no favours.

Christian Being Taken Out Of The Chamber?

Word is coming out that tonight we’ll see the new heel in town Christian being taken out of the chamber for tonight’s main event. According to a website I currently write for PWMania,

“WWE officials were still considering an angle to take Christian out of tonight’s Elimination Chamber main event but at last word, if they do that angle, it will not be to give a spot to Brock Lesnar. No word on who would get the spot if they take Christian out.” (To read more about the rumours, click here)

Now Christian being the bait that’s being taken out of the chamber really does surprise me. Followers of the Armbar Express will know that I did a bit about Christian yesterday (see here). For someone that was just thrown right back in the WWE public domain with this heel turn, for them to take out of the chamber seems like horrible booking. I mean WWE’s booking has been really inconsistent as of late, especially with Daniel Bryan being turned heel and then back face again in the space of two weeks. But for Christian to be the one taken out would result in his heel turn being pointless by having him be discarded from the main event scene so easily. If Christian hadn’t turned, sure it’d make sense. But not if he’s just been shot back into the limelight. It just seems illogical. If I had to pick someone who had to be taken out, it’d have to be Sheamus. He’s just returned from WWE, but he’s still not as much in the public domain as Christian or even Antonio Cesaro for that matter.

Will Brock Lesnar Be At Elimination Chamber?

Funnily enough, that earlier report mentioned Brock Lesnar. Kane stated recently that Lesnar would be at Elimination Chamber despite WWE not hyping his appearance or even mentioning him in the last couple of weeks. This might have been WWE trying to keep his appearance a secret and Kane just dropped the blob or maybe Kane was just telling a complete bluff? But either way, I think Lesnar’s appearance would be a great addition to the PPV if he’s in it. Now that report said the possible Chamber casualty was not making way for Lesnar, but then again this is JUST a report. They’re not always concrete nowadays. I mean, WWE could easily change their minds from now until the PPV starts. Lesnar might be on standby for a PPV appearance or maybe he was just planned to be in the chamber all along. But it does surprise me that his “appearance” was not publicly promoted because of Lesnar’s stock when it comes to buy rates. Lesnar is a big pull for WWE and it doesn’t make sense that WWE would decide not to hype him up to bring in the buyrates.

Speaking as a fan, I’d love to see Lesnar at the PPV. If he makes his way into the chamber and wins it, that would get people buzzing for Wrestlemania big time! Seeing Lesnar dominate the chamber would be a really big crowd pleaser. Despite the fans bitching about part-timer Batista winning the Royal Rumble, I don’t think they’ll bitch as much about Lesnar winning the title. He’s the beast and the fans love seeing Lesnar as do I. No word of a lie, I’d mark out if Lesnar shows up tonight.

Anyway, thanks again for reading the blog. Follow the @ArmbarExpress on Facebook and like the Facebook page. And lets hope the Elimination Chamber kicks ass!

04/03/2012 RAW PREVIEW – Raw Goes OLD SCHOOL… again.

What is up guys? Tom Robinson here, with a Raw Preview! I haven’t done one in a while, and it’s sort of a thank you for a sudden boost in readership over the last week or so. In total, my blog generated 500 views in 1 week, which I am amazingly surprised about, and thankful of. Thanks guys!

ANYWAY! Down to business.

Raw is tonight, and RAW GOES OLD SCHOOL!

For those of you who don’t remember, in 2010, Raw did an episode in which everything was completely retro. Raw took a time machine that went back to the 1990’s, with the old school Raw layout, with old school legends, Piper’s Pit, and all sorts. It was all retro – and that episode wasn’t that memorable in my opinion. Aside from a few laughs (like the Iron Shiek!) it wasn’t something that lives long in the memory. Hopefully, on the road to Wrestlemania, things are a little different this time around. What’s there to expect tonight (or tomorrow morning if you’re in the UK)?

The Legends

Yeah, there are legends returning tonight who showed up in the last one. We have “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes! We have Mae Young (this woman is clearly off her rocker! How old is she?). Mean Gene Okerlund and his beautiful moustache! We have “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan! We have Sgt. Slaughter! We have “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase (speaking of DiBiase, when was the last time his son was on WWE TV?). We have the Honky Tonk Man! And we’ve also got The New Age Outlaws! It’s always great to see them on WWE TV, and who knows, they might even compete tonight! They’ve been doing some house shows, and it’d be great to see them do more than just a promo. And last… but not least…

THE NATURE BOY! The Limousine Ridin’, Jet Flying, Kiss Stealin’, Wheelin’ Dealin’, Son of a Gun! Ric Flair is back on our screens after he showed up on Raw and passed the torch to The Miz if you will, by gifting him the Figure Four Leg Lock. It’s always good to see the Nature Boy on Raw! Ric Flair, you absolute legend! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

It’s Time To Play The Game

Triple H is on Raw tonight! No doubt to move along his feud with Brock Lesnar, who’s ass he kicked last week on Raw in that epic brawl at the start of Raw. Expect Triple H to challenge Brock to a match at Wrestlemania 29. Brock is not here on this Raw, so don’t expect some kind of altercation between the two. Maybe Triple H and Paul Heyman will engage in a war of words. I don’t know. Either way, it’ll be interesting to see what they do to amp up the anticipation for the match at Wrestlemania.

The Rock Decides To Show Up

The WWE Champion was NOT present at last week’s Raw. Fortunately, he has decided to show up tonight on Raw, and probably will engage in a confrontation with Wrestlemania opponent John Cena. I’m not exactly thrilled with the fact that all of The Rock’s appearances on Raw are this hyped up. -.-

Weed The People…. err… I mean We The People

Yes, the road to Wrestlemania 29 continues for Alberto Del Rio and Jack Swagger. The Mexican Aristocrat and The “Real American” will no doubt collide again, and that means… Zeb Colter is on the mic. This guy, love him or hate him, is GOLD on the mic. He flat out owned Del Rio on the mic last week, and he’s definitely going to be the guy that’ll push Jack Swagger higher and higher. Hehehehe. I’m sorry. A Jack Swagger weed joke had to be done.

What’s Next For The Shield?

The Shield is ON A ROLE, and a good Wrestlemania program should definitely be on the cards. It seems that The Shield will engage in a feud with Sheamus and Randy Orton judging by what happened on SmackDown! which I am so opposed to. The Shield NEED something big for Wrestlemania. They’ve been the hottest stable in a while in WWE, and they can NOT be put out with a lame-ass feud with the same old people.

CM Punk’s Road To Wrestlemania

Well, CM Punk is not going to the main event of Wrestlemania 29 as WWE Champion. 😦 But, surely WWE has big plans for him leading up to the event. Which could include…

Undertaker is reportedly in Buffalo tonight (where Raw is held) so there is a possibility that he may confront the man who called himself GOD last week, CM Punk. Undertaker vs CM Punk seems an inevitability if Undertaker is healthy and the Road To Wrestlemania for these two could start TONIGHT!

So it’ll be an interesting RAW to say the least. Legends Return! Egos Increase! Gods Collide! Race Wars Continue! And Tonight… RAW GOES OLD SCHOOL!
