This just in. The internet’s favorite diva seems to be no more at WWE as an statement issued by @WWE themselves have revealed that AJ Lee is supposedly “retired” from in-ring wrestling. The statement, released on Twitter, reads this…
BREAKING: AJ Lee (April Mendez) has decided to retire from in-ring competition with WWE. We wish AJ the very best.
— WWE (@WWE) April 3, 2015
Now a few things to notice..
- Firstly, thanks to Cageside Seats for pointing this out on Twitter. She is referred to first as “AJ Lee” rather than April Mendez. Now it seems like a small thing, but usually when somebody leaves WWE or something like that happens, they are addressed by their real name. Now correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m fairly certain CM Punk’s release was dealt with in a similar manner. Now what could that mean?
- Secondly, it doesn’t exactly SAY that AJ Lee has left the company. It just says she retires from in-ring competition. Now of course, WWE reportedly have been known to refer to firings in the past as “retirements”. Jim Ross was a prime example of that. So the chances are, there is more to this story than meets the eye. It’ll be interesting to see what the dirt-sheets get from their investigations!
I will be doing a blog post in the weekend about the situation I think. But right now I will just leave you with THAT information that AJ has retired from WWE. Be sure to check my @ArmbarExpress and @TomRobinson5199 twitter channels and the blog for more!
