You know guys just then I watched the promo for the CM Punk vs The Rock match from Royal Rumble. And it was right then and there that I came to a realization…CM Punk is going to main event Wrestlemania 30.
Trust me, this prediction has nothing to do with the rumours of CM Punk apparently winning the Royal Rumble in 2014 to go after the WWE Championship. This is not based on speculation, this is based on precedent.
2012, John Cena had an awful year, on and off-screen. He lost to The Rock, lost to Tensai on RAW, got his ass kicked by Brock Lesnar, lost at Over The Limit, failed to win the WWE Championship from CM Punk, got injured and lost Dolph Ziggler at TLC. He even went through a legitimate divorce. He was booked to be in such a state by Royal Rumble. And what happens, he rises above all the shit and makes 2013 his year. He won the Royal Rumble in 2013, defeated The Rock in their rematch and won the WWE and World Titles. I think CM Punk is getting that same treatment.
Think about it. He lost the WWE Championship at the start of the year. He lost to The Rock. Not once but TWICE. He went on to lose to The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 29. He left for a bit after these defeats. Came back and the bad luck continued. He lost in the Money In The Bank Ladder Match, got stabbed in the back by Paul Heyman and lost to Brock Lesnar at Summerslam. Oh yeah and Paul Heyman pinned him at Night Of Champions. So yeah, he’s lot a LOT of big matches this year. Deja Vu? Isn’t this shades of 2012 and John Cena?
I mean its not like CM Punk is getting buried with these defeats is he? How many wrestlers can say that they have wrestled Undertaker, The Rock and Brock Lesnar in the same year? CM Punk is still are star, so it’s obvious that WWE have a plan with him. Punk has proved that he can take defeats and still hang with the elite of WWE. He’s still a top star in WWE and it appears that WWE aren’t giving up on him at all.
In fact, it seems with all the defeats on-screen and the drama with his mother off-screen that CM Punk is set on having 2014 be his redemption year, just like 2013 was Cena’s redemption year. It’ll start with a victory at the Royal Rumble and then at Wrestlemania 30, The Best In The World ascends to the top of WWE once again! And that’ll be #GoodNewsBarrett for Punk!
